The State Mints of Baden-Wuerttemberg produce circulation coins and high-quality commemorative coins on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany and the central banks of other countries.

In that capacity, we offer bespoke advice on coin design, technical specifications and security features. We produce minting tools and dies and offer blanking, joining, edge lettering, minting and packing, as well as comprehensive logistical services including secure delivery to our clients. Of course, we also offer each production step as an individual service.

The quality of our products is obvious. We fulfil even the most demanding product requirements. Our self-evident quality management strategy has its sights set on perfection from blank to finished product.

It all begins with precise planning. We involve our clients in the process. To assess the quality of the final product, we perform test runs with the selected blanks on the selected machines. This is the only way to make sure that the test results match the final products.
Planning a series of commemorative coins? You are guaranteed the highest attainable degree of perfection with our continually optimised surface finish, laser technology for infinitely replicable precision in die production, and the latest minting technology in a clean-room environment.

Whether replacing a die or inspecting the quality of minted coins, we rely on objective assessment conducted not with the human eye but by optical systems that distinguish according to clear criteria. We’ve developed in-house standards to assess coin edging. Your coins are given a final check on a combined system working with latest technology. We are applying German accuracy when we inspect all features which are decisive concerning optics and security.
Each batch delivered is traceable to both the date of manufacture and the exact machine used.

Reliable delivery is a matter of planning. Thanks to our exemplary maintenance management system, we never experience unscheduled equipment standstill. And owing to our high level of process automation, our prices remain competitive despite higher labour costs.

At our facilities you will find 27 of the most modern coin minting presses, with which we strike a volume of up to 150,000 coins per minute and 1.2 billion per year – making us one of the highest-capacity coinage producers in the world.

Your data isn't the only thing that is safe with us

Security is our top priority. We aren’t only referring to how our facilities use state-of-the-art systems to protect against break-ins and theft; we also handle your sensitive data with the utmost confidentiality. There is a sophisticated security policy in place that prevents any access to your data from the outside. Before, during and after striking, any dies stored with us are subject to the German die decree, which calls for storage in high-security areas.

Certifications

Sustainable business practices are important to us. We accept our responsibility for the world of tomorrow in our day-to-day activities. That’s why we’ve had a closed water system since 2013, reducing our water consumption by 150,000 to 200,000 litres per annum. We’ve also planned a modernisation of our facility temperature controls for 2017, which will cut our energy needs by around 50%.

We recognise that environmental management is an on-going process. Receiving ISO 9001 certification in 2001 and ISO 14001 in 2013 were meaningful steps in the right direction, but we aren’t stopping there. Every individual employee at our company receives frequent training on how to identify and implement improvements to our resource efficiency.
